What to Expect
What is a Dental Bridge?
A dental bridge is a custom restoration used to replace one or more missing teeth by "bridging" the gap between natural teeth. At Dr. Bob's Dental Care, we specialize in creating bridges that are both aesthetically pleasing and functionally sound. A bridge typically consists of one or more prosthetic teeth (pontics) held in place by crowns on the adjacent natural teeth or dental implants—these are known as abutments.
Dental bridges restore your ability to chew and speak properly while preventing your remaining teeth from shifting out of alignment. Designed with precision and crafted from durable materials, they offer a natural look and long-lasting performance. With Dr. Bob and our expert team, you’ll receive personalized care and a bridge that feels like it’s always been a part of your smile.
What is a Dental Crown?
Dental crowns are protective caps placed over a tooth that’s been weakened, damaged, or cosmetically compromised. Whether it's to restore strength after a root canal or to cover a misshaped or discolored tooth, crowns provide a strong, attractive solution.
At Dr. Bob's Dental Care, we use high-quality materials to design custom crowns that match the size, shape, and color of your natural teeth. In addition to their restorative benefits, crowns also enhance the overall appearance of your smile.
Crowns are a versatile option for:
- Restoring a tooth with a large filling
- Protecting a cracked or weakened tooth
- Anchoring a dental bridge
- Covering dental implants
- Enhancing cosmetic appearance
How Temporary Crowns Work
Before your permanent crown or bridge is placed, a temporary crown is used to protect the prepared tooth. After Dr. Bob reshapes your tooth and takes precise impressions, a temporary crown is fitted to maintain the space, protect against sensitivity, and allow you to eat and speak comfortably until your final restoration is ready.
During your follow-up appointment, the temporary crown will be removed, and your custom-made crown or bridge will be carefully placed and adjusted for a secure, comfortable fit. It’s important to care for your temporary crown and follow any instructions given—this helps ensure the best outcome for your final restoration.
