Bridges and dental implants are perfect options for replacing a missing tooth. Getting either of these requires multiple appointments. It takes a couple of weeks before the process is complete. The process may compromise the health of adjacent teeth surrounding the damaged tooth/teeth as they have to be reduced to provide a support mechanism. The missing root structure is not replaced by a bridge which is why there is always a risk of bone loss. You may have to clean the bridge frequently to avoid bacterial buildup. Another option is dental implants that act as artificial root. They help protect the area from recession and tissue loss. Patients can take care of an implant like a regular natural tooth. It doesn’t involve removal of healthy teeth either. However, it takes some time to complete the process.
