Both dental crowns and fillings are restorative procedures that are carried out to repair the damage caused by decays. Based on the severity of the damage caused, a dentist can choose from either of the two procedures. Dental fillings are generally preferred if the damaged area is relatively smaller. Crowns are generally recommended to those patients whose teeth are weakened due to excessive decay or an injury, and are more durable and long lasting as compared to dental fillings. A doctor, after initial consultation, can recommend whether you should go for dental crowns or stick to dental fillings to repair your damaged teeth.
