In the absence of regular dental cleanings, deposits of bacteria known as calculus can build up leading to release of harmful toxins that can result in bleeding gums and gingivitis. The flossing, brushing or even regular dental cleans-up can fail to reach certain areas where there is bacteria buildup. Debridement is the process that doctors conduct to remove those deposits.
This process involves an ultrasonic cleaner that uses high-frequency vibration to separate calculus from tooth. If this process is not enough to remove the buildup and the symptoms don’t go away, then it may result in periodontitis and bone loss. More advanced procedures may then be required to remedy the problem.
