When lost or removed teeth are not replacement, the surrounding bone structure starts to change. When a tooth is lost, the body resorbs the bone. This alters the bite and causes surrounding teeth to drift. If more teeth are missing, their impact will be even higher. This can dramatically affect the healthy bone tissues in the jaw. Over the time, the structure and appearance of face can change due to decrease in vertical dimension, which is the length between chin and tip of the nose. This can result in formation of wrinkles around the mouth, thinning of lips, weakening of facial muscles, and ultimately premature aging. Therefore, it is highly recommended to consult a dentist who could suggest the best treatment plan as per your situation.
