A condition in which an individual clenches or grinds teeth is known as bruxism. This unconscious behavior can occur at any point of time, while one is awake or sleeping. Few symptoms of Bruxism are worn structure of teeth, extreme sensitivity, tenderness and soreness in the facial muscles. This is also associated with other airway disturbances like gastric reflux and sleep apnea. The constant grinding results in removal of outer enamel and inner layer of teeth are exposed. This further makes teeth weak, sensitive and decaying process may also start occurring. Moreover, bruxism leads to several cracks and fractures in teeth, which results in uneven chewing, eating, drinking and jaw movement. The patients can seek dentist’s advice in preventing bruxism.
